What TrustGuard Is (and Is Not)

TrustGuard is a document management and review tool for people who already have estate planning documents created by an attorney. It helps you upload, understand, and stay on top of your existing estate plan.

TrustGuard is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

The summaries, checklists, review questions, and revision drafts generated by TrustGuard are created by artificial intelligence to help you understand your documents. They are not legal advice and should not be treated as such. Always consult a qualified attorney before making changes to your estate plan.

Using TrustGuard

By creating an account and using TrustGuard, you agree to the following:

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use TrustGuard.
  • Your account is personal to you. Do not share your login credentials with anyone else.
  • You are responsible for the documents you upload. Only upload documents that you own or have legal authority to access.
  • You understand that AI-generated content may contain errors. While we work hard to make our AI analysis accurate, it is not perfect. Always verify important details with your attorney or by reviewing your original documents.

Your Documents and Data

  • Your documents belong to you. Uploading documents to TrustGuard does not transfer any ownership or rights to us.
  • You grant us permission to process your documents using our AI system in order to provide you with the services described above (summaries, checklists, reviews, and revision drafts).
  • You can delete your documents and data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we handle deletion.

AI-Generated Content

TrustGuard uses Anthropic's Claude AI to analyze your documents and generate summaries, checklists, and other content. You should know:

  • AI-generated summaries and analyses are provided as a convenience to help you understand your documents, not as a replacement for professional legal review.
  • The AI may occasionally misinterpret document language, miss important details, or produce inaccurate summaries. This is a limitation of the technology.
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or legal sufficiency of any AI-generated content.
  • Do not make legal or financial decisions based solely on TrustGuard's AI output. Always consult your attorney.

Attorney Network

TrustGuard connects users with estate planning attorneys. Regarding our attorney network:

  • Attorneys on TrustGuard are independent professionals, not employees or agents of TrustGuard.
  • We verify attorney credentials during onboarding, but we do not guarantee the quality of any attorney's work.
  • Any attorney-client relationship you form through TrustGuard is between you and that attorney. TrustGuard is not a party to that relationship.
  • TrustGuard charges a separate technology fee for facilitating amendment requests. Attorney fees go directly to the attorney. These fees are clearly disclosed before you commit to any service.

What We Expect From You

Please do not use TrustGuard to:

  • Upload documents you do not have the right to access.
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data.
  • Use the service in any way that could harm other users or our systems.
  • Misrepresent AI-generated content as professional legal advice to others.

We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that violate these terms.

Service Availability

We strive to keep TrustGuard available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may occasionally need to take the service offline for maintenance or updates. We will try to provide advance notice when possible.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrustGuard and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to:

  • Reliance on AI-generated summaries or analysis.
  • Decisions made based on information presented in TrustGuard without consulting an attorney.
  • Temporary unavailability of the service.
  • Actions taken by attorneys found through our network.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email and update the date at the top of this page. Your continued use of TrustGuard after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
